Investigating Factors Affecting the rate of photosynthesis.

Background information: Photosynthesis Photosynthesis is the process of autotrophs turning carbon dioxide and water into carbohydrates and oxygen, using light energy from sunlight.

Prediction: I predict that as the light source (desk lamp) is moved closer to the pondweed (Elodea), the rate of photosynthesis will increase therefore more oxygen will be produced creating more bubbles.

I think this
because I already know that a plant needs sunlight to be able to
perform photosynthesis as shown in the formula below:


Water + Carbon dioxide>> Sunlight>> chlorophyll>> Glucose + oxygen

Also I know that if you increase anything on the left-hand side of
this formula (the part I have boxed on the diagram above), everything
on the right hand side will increase (Increase of input = increase of
output.)This means that if the concentration of light were to be
increased, the levels of glucose and oxygen (The rate of
photosynthesis) will increase.

It will be very interesting to see how light will influence the rate of photosynthesis in plants and what will happen if they do not get the required light in order to produce starch .
