Adema & Vink (1981) found that the green alga Scenedesmus quadricauda had an EC50 for growth that was 87.5 times lower than that for Chlorella pyrenoidosa. The most sensitive algae were Ankistrodesmus falcatus and Microcystis sp., for which as little as 0.001 mg PCP/litre inhibited photosynthesis by an average of 21%, in semi-continuous cultures.
